This project demonstrates how flame-resistant textile surfaces and panel solutions made from PyroTex® can shape a modern Third Place focusing on tranquility, interaction and well-being. The starting point is the transformation of an existing building into an open space that offers visitors ideal conditions for spending time, connecting with others and feeling welcome.
At the heart of the design is a warm and inviting atmosphere created through the combination of specific colours, and textures. Custom-made furniture, textile wall surfaces, room dividers and acoustically effective flame-resistant panels divide the space into different zones, ranging from open social areas and convivial seating landscapes to protected retreats for quiet moments.
On the lower level of the building, a welcoming lounge environment is created with lounge chairs, cozy niches and flexible seating areas. Textile panels structure the space and at the same time improving its acoustic performance. Mounted textile elements divide larger areas into smaller, more protected zones, creating a pleasant balance between openness and privacy. This results in a lively, productive and relaxing atmosphere, even in areas with limited natural light.
On the ground floor, a spacious, light-filled area welcomes visitors. A custom-made PyroTex® curtain serves as an atmospheric design feature while supporting the acoustic quality of the space. Soft seating, textile wall surfaces and natural materials complete the setting, combining the character of a vibrant communal place with the comfort of a welcoming interior.
On the upper levels, flexible areas for gathering and spending time are created with height-adjustable tables, upholstered niches and quiet retreat zones. Textile panels are used strategically to define individual areas visually, absorb sound and create a sense of comfort and security. A central material wall extending across several levels illustrates the variety of surfaces used and becomes a defining feature of the interior concept.
The project illustrates how high-quality, flame-resistant textiles made from PyroTex® can transform Third Places into versatile environments for interaction, exchange and inspiration. Acoustics, safety and atmosphere work together harmoniously to create a setting that supports well-being, community and a high quality of experience in equal measure.
This project is intended to illustrate potential applications and demonstrates how textile solutions can structure third places, improve acoustics and shape the overall atmosphere.
The spaces shown form part of a fictional design study and were developed to highlight the aesthetic and functional possibilities of flame-resistant textile surfaces made from PyroTex®.
