- Maintenance – The blanket is maintenance-free, but should be disposed of after a fire.
In case of fire
- Stay calm and assess the fire source.
- Take the fire blanket – unfold it.
- Assume a protective position – hold the blanket so that your hands are behind the folded edge for protection.
- Carefully place the blanket – lay it over the fire from front to back to smother the flames and cut off the oxygen supply.
- Wait – leave the fire blanket in place for at least 30 minutes to prevent re-ignition.
- Check the fire site – after cooling, carefully inspect it.
4. Safety instructions
- Do not reuse the fire-resistant comfort blanket after use—replace it.
- Never pour water on grease fires—risk of explosion!
- For larger fires, call the fire department (112) immediately.
5. Care and storage
- Store fire blankets in a dry place.
- Keep them visible and easily accessible.
- Dispose of after use; otherwise maintenance-free.
6. Note for businesses
In commercial kitchens and workplaces, a fire blanket may be part of the legally required fire safety equipment. Ensure compliance with the relevant DIN standard and regularly train staff on its use.
Tip: A fire-resistant comfort blanket is only effective if everyone knows where it is stored and how to use it—conduct regular short drills, even with your children.
